The Sheridan Sabre Award

The Sheridan Sabre Award was issued to the most
outstanding ARC ROTC Cadet each year from 1933 to 1981.

About the Sheridan Sabre

Richard Sheridan was an outstanding student/athlete at Richmond Academy who gained an appointment to West Point. He was also an exceptional player on the West Point football team, but was injured in a huge game against Yale and passed away a few days later. It was a national story and there is memorial to him on the campus. His family began awarding the “Sheridan Sabre” in 1933 to the most outstanding cadet in the ARC ROTC program. The ceremony is usually in the stadium, with the student body, teachers, family, etc. in attendance. A big deal!  If you can help us fill in some of the blanks, use this form.  Thank you.
